Number of objects: approx. 450.000 objects of natural history, also extensive collections of archaeology (e. g. through many years of own excavations) and ethnology
Focus of the collections: Regional (region of Weser-Ems); especially insects and birds
Annual visitors: approx. 30.000
Highlights: The museum building, which opened in 1880, already had a educational room for school classes. The State Museum of Nature and Human is thus possibly the oldest extracurricular place of learning in Germany
